Description

Exhibit9 resumes its public art project, Dialogue Through Art - 9/11 Healing Performance, on the 11th of April 2012.

The public art performance will last approximately 1-1/2 hours.

At 11am on Wednesday, April 11th, people will gather wearing plain, white shirts at Dupont Circle. They will carry white cloth cut into panels and draped about their shoulders; this cloth will serve as the canvas for a dialogue on peace. The individuals' backs will serve as easels. Sharpie markers will be handed out as the communication tool.

A dialogue will commence when the public is invited to write on the cloth about their hopes for humanity, unity, and world peace. As they share their future vision on the backs of others, such intimate interaction will encourage a new dialogue. Once the panels have been filled with the public's aspiration, people will form a link by holding hands or twine that will stretch across the vast space in an organic configuration.

A drum beat will call out to people to join in the celebration and move them to dance with joy. Digital videographer(s) will film the interactions.

Exhibit9 is currently looking for volunteers willing to participate in this outdoor performance piece. Participants are asked to arrive at Dupont Circle at 10:45am on April 11th. If interested, please contact Sarah Barzmehri at the gallery - info@exhibit9gallery.net
